Description
This is a brass and wood cleave used in Willow basket weaving. The brass is relatively sharp but will not start the split. You need to use a knife to start the split and then the cleave would do a very good job of cleaving or splitting that rod into three pieces. The handle wood in the picture is a maple. the wood may change because of availability. The shape may change because I’m always trying to improve my tools.
With a little care this tool should last a lifetime.
